There are plenty of trends out there, but one we’re loving at Morning Star Builders is all about optimizing kitchen storage and functionality. Our favorite way to do that? A super pantry!

Rather than opting for a standard walk-in pantry, we’ve begun building a variation of a super pantry, or service pantry, in each of our home designs. But, we’re not alone; architects, builders, and designers throughout the greater Houston area have jumped on this trend, as well!

Much larger than a traditional pantry, a super pantry serves as a pantry, butler’s pantry, catering kitchen, and linen closet – all in one strategically crafted room! The result is a kitchen that is not only more functional but also more attractive, as cluttered counters are kept to a minimum in the main kitchen space. What’s not to love about that?

Each of our super pantries is designed to be practical, though one design can vary from the next depending on our client’s unique needs. Generally, each pantry includes a dishwasher, sink, and plenty of storage. Others sport an additional fridge, oven, and microwave, making them an ideal option for those who love to entertain. One thing we’ve been seeing a lot of lately is open shelving in place of traditional cabinetry. Regardless of cosmetic preferences, a fully outfitted super pantry allows you to prep, cook, and bake while leaving the mess behind a closed door until you’re ready to clean up.

Super pantries are perfect for those who strive to keep their kitchen tidy! All of those small appliances taking up space on the kitchen counter can find a new easy-to-access home inside the super pantry. From the coffee maker to extra dishes, a super pantry allows homeowners to be more organized. Some homeowners also add a built-in desk to double as a command center.
