Angie
Office Manager
Angie came to Morning Star Builders with over 15 years of Office Management and Construction Accounting experience. She learned the ropes from her father, working side by side with him for 14 years running a General Contracting Business specializing in Commercial Construction out of Cypress, TX. Not only did her father teach her the ins and outs of the construction industry, but he also taught her how important it is to have good work ethic and valuable lessons about teamwork. Angie lives in Tomball, TX with her husband Stephen and their English Bulldog Bailey. Her favorite pastimes include evenings at home cooking and dancing in the kitchen with her husband, summer days on the lake with her family, nice evenings with friends listening to live Texas music and weekend getaways with her sisters touring the many wineries the Texas Hill Country has to offer.

Mike
Project Manager
Mike grew up in the intermountain west and after graduating from the University of Utah in Business Management/Entrepreneurship, he and wife, Kim, moved “back” to Texas, which has been Home, Sweet Home now for more than 15 years.
His building adventure began at age 21 by spending almost an entire summer framing a three-story custom farmhouse with a basement, in a small, remote southeastern Idaho rural community, apprentice to a veteran builder (Jerry), while hulled up in a century old run down shack with no running water or other amenities such as heating and air conditioning, for an uncle and his family who were relocating to the area.
Since that time, his journey of building houses has become a sort of calling – to build practical, strong and beautiful homes. He attributes his years of hands-on experience building and remodeling high end and historic homes as providing him with an intimate knowledge of how a home is constructed and, is a firm proponent of Make[ing] Craftsmanship Great Again.
He and his wife Kim, and their five children enjoy spending lots of time together both at home and in the outdoors – hiking, camping, learning, exploring, playing, serving and, of course, …sitting around the campfire!

Jake Rayburn
I was born in West Texas and grew up enjoying all of the outdoors and all Texas has to offer. The sunsets in West Texas are worth the trip, but other than that, its mostly wind and dust. We moved to Denver, CO when I was in 4th grade, and I learned all about winter sports. I enjoyed learning to ski and snowboard, and got really big into bike and motocross. I also played baseball as a first baseman and pitcher. Moving back to Texas in 2002 got me back to my roots and closer to home with. We have been in the Houston area ever since and got into the construction industry soon thereafter.
I have been in the home building industry for 20 years, and my favorite part of this business is getting to know people and all the relationships that I’ve built over the last two decades. I still speak with clients whom I built homes for decades ago, and I look forward to making many more connections in the future. My wife and my three boys live on the west side of Katy in Fulshear, and when I am not at work, I enjoy doing CrossFit and anything outdoors. Our boys are involved in all the sports and also enjoy participating in cub scouts. Our house if very full of action and while it can be stressful at times, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
In today’s world of 30-minute home building and home improvement TV programs, building a home is often portrayed as an uncomplicated process where following a series of pre-determined steps leads to a finished project. However, this simplistic thought ignores the fact that the construction process is inherently fluid with weather impacting schedules and circumstances often changing daily. What separates Morning Star from most other builders is that we approach our jobs as building professionals; by calling upon our years of experience in designing and building and our pursuit of continued education, our collaboration with other professionals so we can complete your new home in a manner that is superior in design, materials and workmanship.
We understand that good design goes beyond individual products or ideas combined haphazardly with inspiration from HOUZZ or Pinterest. Rather, it more closely resembles a musical theme: an underlying melody that is displayed in such elements as an elegantly placed arch, sophisticated details, proper proportion of ceiling beams, or the crisp intersection of lines. However, we’re not content with designs that are simply architecturally pleasing; they must also function in a way that works for you and your family’s needs.
The difference is in the details… We view your home’s details as part of an overall effect. Details that applied properly, and with the utmost attention to craftsmanship, combine to complete the whole of your custom home. Details like these: a hidden room in a study, a groin ceiling in a foyer, a pocket door opening to a closet, the use of exterior door frame protection, motorized screens to enclose a porch or a sliding glass door extending your living space outside are hallmarks of a custom home.
Morning Star could build your project to the minimum standard as required by local and national building codes. Yet we are in the practice of providing projects that are built from materials of the highest quality, by contractors of the highest caliber and through methods that are of the highest standard.
Morning Star is not hoping to simply keep you satisfied through the building process. We are working toward that day—perhaps years from now when, with the benefit of hindsight, you can look back and truly appreciate the care, quality and innovation that went into building your home.
