From GHBA (Greater Houston Builders Association)
Morning Star co-owners Ted and Yvonne Cummins have been building custom homes for more than a decade. Their innovative designs can be found in Cypress, Tomball, Magnolia and within Spring area neighborhoods. Morning Star is also a Build On Your Lot contractor. This Morning Star team is built on the collaborative strengths of both Ted and Yvonne. Yvonne serves as the president of the company and handles the administrative, sales and marketing duties. Ted serves as the chief creative officer. “Home design is my passion,” he said. “I spend hours on HOUZZ.com!”
In addition to running the company fulltime, Yvonne is an active member of HALO, a professional women’s organization ofHomeAid Houston, a GHBA charity that builds transitional housing for Houston’s homeless. As part of their commitment to HomeAid, Yvonne and Ted named HomeAid one of two charities to receive funds from tours of their 2011 Southern Living Showcase Home.
Southern Living carefully selects custom home builders that transcend the pages of the magazine into a dream home. Members are chosen for their extensive experience and knowledge, reputation in the marketplace, and focus on the discriminating customer who is looking to build a custom home. A Southern LivingCustom Builder builds a Showcase Home to bring to the customer emerging design trends, home technology updates and green building techniques. Morning Star constructed a 5,000 sq. ft. design for this honor in the gated community of Hidden Falls.
“When Yvonne and I were given the honor of building a home for the Southern Living Showcase Home Program, we wanted to share this opportunity with a local charity by giving back,” said Ted. “HomeAid and the work they do to build transitional housing for homeless men, women and children touched us deeply.”
Ted and Yvonne have been presented with several awards from the GHBA for their designs. GHBA named Morning Star the 2011 Custom Builder of the Year and they were also named GHBA Custom Home Builder Grand Award at Houston’s Best 2012, Master Bathroom over $1M and Custom Builder Event.
