As we near the end of 2020, the countdown to the new year begins. As we anticipate all that 2021 can bring, we can help but wonder how it will affect home building trends. If you’re currently designing, building, or dreaming of your perfect home, we hope these home trend projections will spur some ideas of your own!

The Master Suite

Designing a master suite retreat is becoming increasingly popular and we don’t expect this trend to disappear any time soon. Often, this luxurious master suite includes:

  • His and her over-sized walk-in closets
  • Walk-in shower with a rain head
  • Luxurious freestanding bathtub
  • Cozy reading nook

The Home Office

This is one you probably saw coming. Given the 2020 pandemic, working-from-home has become ever so popular. Even with the new year in view, we don’t predict the working-from-home trend to go away in the near future. Whether full or part time, we expect that working-from-home is here to stay!

Bold Colors

2020 may have been the year of simplistic, clean whites and neutrals, but we think 2021 has something new in store. Expect to see fun, vibrant colors in main living spaces, like kitchens, bathrooms, and dining rooms. Be on the lookout for dark blues, olive greens, and moody grays.

Mixed Materials

With the introduction on bold colors, also comes bold material selections. Try mixing and matching building materials, like wood, concrete, metals, glass, and laminate, for a trendy, unique, and modern look.

The new year presents a blank slate for us all, even in the building industry. And, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for custom homes in 2021!
