Morning Star Builders LTD wins four awards at the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) Houston’s Best presentation at the House of Blues, September 12, 2009.
Morning Star was awarded Best Custom Home Kitchen for 2009. The winning kitchen has many stunning details which drew the judge’s attention; however it was the main focal point, the groin vaulted brick ceiling, which brought the award for the 4,447 sq ft. Ted Cummins, Chief Creative Officer, Morning Star Builders, worked with the architect, David Patterson of DWP Architects to design the brick ceiling. Cummins stated the ceiling required the craftsmanship of a skilled framing and masonry crew to accomplish the remarkable design. The dramatic brick ceiling evokes an ‘old world’ feel for the stunning kitchen.
“The symmetry of the vaulted ceiling aligning with the cook top, kitchen sink and barrel arches required significant time and attention to detail to execute successfully. One aspect of the vault includes the brick being veneered to decrease the weight of and match the exterior brick. The kitchen also has dramatic views showcasing the subdivision waterfall, which was also a design feature,” Cummins said.
This unique and spectacular kitchen with the warmth of old world style, draws you into the kitchen and serves as a comfortable gathering place. Yet this kitchen is highly functional with attention to design, symmetry, ease of living and comfort especially in the work triangle, according to Cummins.
Morning Star Builders also won two Consumer Choice Awards. During the GHBA Parade of Homes August 1-9, 2009 consumers were given the opportunity to vote on their favorite house.
“This home was built with meticulous attention to architectural details, implementation of universal design components, the execution of quality construction techniques, use of exterior materials for low maintenance, and flexible arrangement of space making this a livable, comfortable home exemplifying the best Texas has to offer and was one of the many reasons the house won,” Cummins said.
