Tis the season! The holidays are in full swing and there are so many wonderful family friendly things to do in Houston this December. There’s something for everyone this holiday season. From an old fashioned Victorian era holiday festival to Chanukah Fest you’ll be sure to find something fun to do in Houston with the whole family this December. Check out the list of holiday events happening in and around the Houston Metro area this month.

Mayor’s Holiday Celebration
When: December 4th | 6pm-8pm
Where: Hermann Square at City Hall

Ring in the season with the 96th Annual Mayor’s Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting Presented by Reliant, an NRG Company on Friday, December 4, 2015 in the heart of downtown Houston. The spectacular event is a holiday tradition of music, Santa, fireworks and family fun. A towering Holiday Tree, glowing with energy efficient LED lights, shimmering ornaments and a stunning star topper will light up the streets of downtown Houston this holiday season. The event takes place in Hermann Square at City Hall from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Dickens on the Strand
When: December 4th – 6th

Galveston’s world famous Victorian holiday festival returns to Galveston Island December 4-6. The annual holiday street festival, based on 19th-century Victorian London, features parades, non-stop entertainment on six stages, strolling carolers, roving musicians, bagpipers, jugglers and a host of other entertainers. Costumed vendors peddle their wares from street stalls and rolling carts laden with holiday food and drink, Victorian-inspired crafts, clothing, jewelry, holiday decorations and gift items.

2015 Chanukah Fest
When: December 6th |2pm – 6pm
Where: Houston City Hall

Chanukah Fest attendees will be treated to a live outdoor concert by the acclaimed California-based 8th Day Band plus even more entertainment by Judah the Maccabee Live Statue, Dreidel Mascot, LED Juggler, balloon artists, face painters, a dance crew, a jumping bird, & much more.

Tomball German Christmas Market & Festival
When: December 11th – 13th | 6pm – 10pm
Where: 201 S. Elm, Tomball, TX 77375

Tap your feet to the musical sounds of performers like The Chardon Polka Band, Chris Rybak, Yodel Blitz, Das Ist Lustig, Tubameisters, Valina, and get into the festive spirit with the sounds of strolling Christmas carolers. It’s a Texas German celebration at Christmas time on the old downtown streets of Tomball Texas.

Campfire Christmas
When: December 11th – 19th (Fridays and Saturdays)

Visit “Christmases Past” this year at our annual Campfire Christmas event. Start your evening at a classic, multi-era holiday meal while the strains of 1930s cowboy music accompany you as you dine. After your hearty Christmas meal, travel back into time to visit a “newly-built” log cabin on Christmas Eve 1825. Let the Joneses serenade you with tales about settling into this new frontier and learn about the early Welsh Christmas traditions of their ancestors. Reservations are required for this event.

Meet Santa’s Reindeer!
When: December 20th
Where: Children’s Museum of Houston

It’s the holidays with a Texas twist! One of Santa’s “reinsteer” (yes, he has some!) has taken a wild turn to the Children’s Museum of Houston. Pull on your boots and come hear the sleigh bells jingling from a live Texas reinsteer’s longhorns.

Santa’s reinsteer will be accompanied by Santa himself! Sorry, no feeding or petting the reinsteer. He’s watching his figure for his big day. Bring your camera!
