With a new year begins a new way of blogging! For the last several years we’ve updated our blog roughly twice a week with short posts about what’s going on with Morning Star Builders. It’s be a great format for us, especially while we’ve been getting ready for the Southern Living Custom Builder Program Showcase Home Tours but we’ve decided to mix things up a little and that means a new format.
We’re going to update the blog weekly with longer posts that not only highlight the goings on at this Houston Builder’s company but also with updates about local events, product reviews and hopefully some helpful information that you can use about luxury homes.
This week we’re going to let you know about some great events taking place during January in and around the greater Houston area. If you’d like to add your event to these monthly posts please send us an email and let us know about your event. Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be about custom home building (though, we are looking for those kinds of updates too). You can let us know about any event that is family friendly and open to the public.

We’re always interested in interesting uses of light and the spectacular Field of Light by internationally-acclaimed artist Bruce Munro does not disappoint. This is a dazzling yet temporary installation of 4500 glass spheres that make up the Field of Light. It takes 42 people working over five days to place all the spheres. The colors change in a rhythmic pattern which creates an illusion of movement. You really have to see it to believe it. Visit Discovery Green for more information about this stunning show of light.
