Houston Fajita Festival

The Houston Fajita Festival 2016 is a celebration of Mexican culture, food, drinks, and entertainment. Come hungry with family and friends to enjoy a day filled with a variety of delicious fajita choices! Texas cookers and grill masters will have everything from beef to seafood. Plus enjoy live art at the “Mural wall”, play with the kids in the “Playground” or relax with the cooling misters in the “Chill Zone”.

Carnival Houston
When: June 11th, 2016
Where: Downtown Houston

Carnival Houston Show and Parade is in its 3rd year.  The premier event that kicks off the summer has now exploded into a 4 -day weekend extravaganza of events from June 9 – 12, 2016 is a celebration of life and cultural diversity. Carnival Events include from Masquerade Bash, Paint Party,  Street Parade, Festival, After Party.  It’s a blend of different cultural backgrounds ranging from Latin America, the Caribbean, and New Orleans. The event highlights the diverse cultures in Houston and is an exciting explosion of music, cuisine, revelry, costume parade and performances. Houston will welcome over 5, 000 enthusiastic carnival goers and over  900 participants to its parade. The cultural focus is on the Caribbean and Latin Markets. The aim is to showcase Houston as a Carnival destination – to come, stay, eat, party and explore carnival in Houston.

Comicpalooza

Comicpalooza is back in 2016 offering the best multi-format pop culture con in the southwest including J-Fashion, cosplay, film festival, literary conference, a code fest, maker space, Mars Rover rides, video and tabletop gaming, BMX stunt show, professional wrestling, roller derby bouts and MUCH MORE!

Houston’s Juneteenth Celebration
When: June 19th, 2016

Celebrate Juneteenth with the legendary funk and soul jazz saxophonist, Maceo Parker: his name synonymous with Funky Music, his pedigree impeccable; his band: the tightest little funk orchestra on earth! From James Brown to Parliament Funkadelic to Prince and more, Maceo Parker has defined the genre.

The festivities include performances from Houston’s beloved Thundersoul Orchestra and Writers in the Schools’ award-winnng poetry-slam team Meta-Four Houston.

Houston LGBT Pride Celebration
When: June 25th, 2016
Where: Downtown Houston

The Festival, held around City Hall, Herman Square and Tranquility Park, showcases over 200 exhibitors with an attendance of more than 100,000 people. The Festival has something for everyone with exhibits like the Houston LGBT History exhibit, Family Fun Zone, Health and Wellness Pavillion, Free HIV testing and more. There are multiple entertainment stages where a whole cast of local and national artists, including our Pride Superstar contestants (past and present) perform for the thousands in attedance. Admission to the Festival is FREE.
